The Unusually Vivid Dream Standing in a Dark Cave

It was a cold winter morning in February 2015. As dawn began to break, I woke up remembering an unusually vivid dream. The dream was so lifelike that I felt as if I was standing in a dark cave watching.

In the center of the cave was a hole in the ground. Bricks were stacked around it, about four feet in height. It appeared to be the opening of an old well.

To the right of the pit, a tall, dark figure stood in the shadows. To the left, a brick wall stood 3 or 4 feet in height. I stood in front of the hole, my eyes gazing at the tall, dark figure in the shadows.

All of a sudden, transparent people began rising and climbing out of the pit. They appeared to be real people, yet you could see through them. I thought they had no spirit, yet their bodies were alive.

They are alive, but they are spiritually DEAD.

After climbing out, the transparent people walked through the brick wall into darkness. The tall, dark figure never spoke. It lurched in the shadows, watching and waiting until everyone entered the dark.

I woke up and wrote the unusual dream down before it faded away.

At the time, I didn’t know what to make of this unusually vivid dream. I wondered about its meaning or significance, but I didn’t give it much thought until several months later.

Life before the Vivid Dream

My life was a mess before dreaming about the dark cave, tall figures, and transparent people. Abused and neglected in childhood and suffering domestic violence left me downtrodden and oppressed.

After repeating the same patterns for twenty-two years, an unhealthy relationship came to a screeching halt. Shortly after, a surprise online meeting with an estranged, abusive husband reawakened painful memories.

The journey to understand and overcome past sufferings started.

It was the first time my heart searched God for answers and healing. And the significance of the unusually vivid dream was vital to understanding the darkness.

Searching for Meaning and Truth

Searching for meaning and truth, I began engaging with and crafting a personal story with an eBook by Lisa Bloom at story-coach.com.

My compelling story is about my transformation from the powers of darkness and sin to walking in the light of Christ.

I wrote a compelling testimony of coming to faith in Jesus Christ.

This writing exercise gave me a new perspective.

I thought I was alive in Christ for many years.

However, I was DEAD because I was not walking in the light of Christ continuously. My mind was dysfunctional or reprobate. And my spirit was bound to the darkness by the chains of sin and disobedience.

Walking in the darkness with fear, I didn’t “trust” God enough to “obey” his word daily. The consequences of these personal choices were devastating.

Making unhealthy choices and decisions, I continued to suffer needlessly in life. I was living a lie and not walking in the light, as he is the light.

As Scripture states,

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1: 1-5 KJV

Understanding the Meaning of Unusually Vivid Dream

It helped me comprehend the meaning of the dream.

The transparent people rising out of the pit are walking in darkness.

They think they’re ALIVE; however, they are spiritually DEAD.

With eyes blinded to the gospel’s truth, their minds are dysfunctional (or reprobate) with imaginations of evil. Living in darkness with fear, pain, and anguish, you suffer the effects of sin.

You walk past the shadow of evil in the World to come out of the darkness. And the only way out is to put your faith or trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

When you remain lost in the darkness, you will continue to suffer pain and mental anguish and feel the sting of sin’s torment.

The World has become Darkened, and Evil Abounds.

The devil or Satan will have a short time to rule the earth.

The devil lies and imposes fear on his victims.

Death and destruction follow him wherever he goes.

The devil or Satan is standing near, watching and waiting to devour you and your testimony of faith. Also, he seeks to keep you from a loving God who can rescue you from the darkness of sin.

When you disbelieve in Jesus Christ, who died for your sins, you will continue walking in darkness. You will be following the devil or Satan, and the results will always be death and destruction. And the eternal pain and mental anguish will be far greater than anything you have suffered on earth.

This torment will last for eternity!

The Lord is calling you to trust him.

The question is, will you?

Will you walk in the light of Christ by faith?
