A True Story About Hiding in Fear from God

2

A true story about a young boy who at a Christmas play, jumped down and was hiding in fear from God underneath the Church Pew.

A cherished memory is a year we attended a Christmas play at the Methodist church in town. My son was around six years old. His grandparents and I took him to see a performance on the birth of Jesus.

The best part came when we heard the voice of God come over the loudspeakers.

He knew about God, since he attended the Salvation Army Church in Berkeley, California, and listened to bedtime stories from a Children’s Bible.

The moment he heard the voice of God come over the loudspeaker, he became fearful. He jumped down off the Church pew and hid underneath.

We laughed amongst ourselves. Then his grandfather bent over to ask why he was hiding underneath the pew.

His response was priceless!

He said,

“It’s God!”

“It’s God!”

He didn’t think it was funny.

He was afraid God was coming to get him. There was no way he was coming out. The voice put the fear of God in him.

We explained that it was a person pretending to be God and encouraged him not to be frightened. We told him that God loved him and it was alright to come out.

It took a few minutes of convincing before he came out and sat back on the Church pew; however, he was restless for the rest of the play.

I find it astounding that a child’s reaction to the presence of God is to hide in fear underneath a Church Pew.

Are You Hiding in Fear?

I encourage you; not to continue to live in fear of something or someone.

I’ve learned living in fear keeps you trapped and down in a downtrodden state of living.

Know that God loves you!

God has an abundance of grace and everlasting love to share with you.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16-17 KJV

God wants to rescue you from living in the darkness.

I encourage you to come out from underneath the pew today!

Come to the Lord Jesus Christ and accept him by faith. In the Lord Jesus Christ, you will find everything you need in life. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14-6 KJV

On Christmas day, you could open a million presents. You could receive expensive diamonds and gold, luxury cars and the best this world has to offer.

None of them can compare to the gift God has given to humanity.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the best gift anyone can receive at any time of the year. However, you must claim this gift by placing your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray the Lord will bless everyone with an abundance of life.
